The Danish soprano Sine Bundgaard studied at the Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen. Since then she has established herself as one of Scandinavia’s leading lyric sopranos.
Her opera engagements have included Fiakermilli in Arabella, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos and Cat in Unsuk Chin’s Alice in Wonderland at Bayerische Staatsoper München, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos and 1 Blumenmädchen in Parsifal at Opéra National Paris, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos at Vlaamse Oper Antwerp and at Opéra de Marseille, Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Theatre de Champs Elysées Paris, Opéra de Lausanne and Teatro delle muse di Ancona, Blondchen in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Opéra de Nancy, Gilda in Rigoletto, Drusilla in L'Incoronazione di Poppea, Corinna in Il Viaggio a Reims and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Royal Danish Opera, Amélite in Rameau’s Zoroastre at the Drottningholm Theatre Stockholm and at the Holland Festival Amsterdam, the title role in Lakmé with Chelsea Opera Group, and Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice with Geneva Chamber Orchestra.
Also a much sought after concert soloist, Sine Bundgaard regularly appears in concert halls and festivals throughout Europe, South America and the US.
She has worked with conductors such as Giancarlo Andretta, Bertrand de Billy, Michael Boder, James Conlon, Thomas Dausgaard, Adam Fischer, Philippe Herreweghe, Miguel Gomez-Martinez, Rolf Gupta, Manfred Honeck, René Jacobs, Philippe Jordan, Paul Mann, Enrique Mazzola, Kent Nagano, Matthias Pintscher, Christophe Rousset, Alexander Rudin, Peter Schneider, Michael Schønwandt, Pinchas Steinberg, Andreas Stoehr and Antoni Wit.
Engagements in 2009 included Fiakermilli in Arabella and Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos at Bayerische Staatsoper München, Angelica in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino at Innsbrucker Festwochen der alten Musik, Amélite in Rameau’s Zoroastre at Opéra Comique Paris, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro the Royal Danish Opera, and Adina in L'elisir d'amore with the Danish National Opera.
2010 included the title role in Lulu, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Micaëla in Carmen as well as Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 at the Royal Danish Opera, and songs by Duparc with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.
2011 has started with Juliette in Roméo et Juliette and Stimme der Falken in Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Royal Danish Opera and concerts with arias by Johann Strauss with the Esbjerg Ensemble.
Forthcoming highlights include Angelica in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino in Edinburgh, Brussels and Eisenstadt with the conductor René Jacobs, Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and Nedda in I Pagliacci at the Royal Danish Opera and Soprano 2 in Wolfgang Rihm's Dionysos at the Netherlands Opera.
Sine Bundgaard has made a number of recordings. We should especially mention the recent CD with orchestral songs in EMI’s Debut series for which Sine Bundgaard received raving reviews. She also sings Amélite in Rameau’s Zoroastre on DVD.
