The young Norwegian baritone Audun Iversen studied at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo, Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy in Leipzig with Prof. Hans-Joachim Beyer, and at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen with Susanna Eken, Martin Isepp, Fiona MacSherry and Mikael Eliassen. He graduated in June 2008.
In July 2007 Audun Iversen was in the finale of the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, and in August 2007 he was the 1:st Prize Winner in the Queen Sonja International Singing Competition in Oslo.
Audun Iversen has quickly made a name for himself as an exciting up-and-coming singer with a strong personality and stage presence. He is a much sought after concert singer and he has worked with conductors such as Giancarlo Andretta, Christian Badea, Giordano Bellincampi, Michael Boder, Nicholas Chalvin, Alan Curtis, Bruno dal Bon, Stéphane Denève, Eivind Gullberg Jensen, Jakub Hruša, Tõnu Kaljuste, Ottavio Marino, Leo McFall, Terje Mikkelsen, Kazushi Ono, Antonio Pappano, Jukka Pekka Saraste, Lan Shui, Vassily Sinaivski, Thomas Søndergaard and Eivind Aadland.
Engagements have included the Count in Le nozze di Figaro, Schaunard in La Bohème and Viscomte Cascada in Die Lustige Witwe at the Royal Danish Opera, concerts with the mezzo-soprano Elina Garanca, the Count in excerpts from Le nozze di Figaro at the opening gala of the new opera house in Oslo, Eumete in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria with the conductor Alan Curtis, and recitals in Copenhagen as well as at Bergen International Festival.
The season 2009/10 included the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Royal Danish Opera as well as at Opéra de Lille and at Théâtre de Caen, the Count in Le nozze di Figaro at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Zurga in Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de Perles in Moscow, Britten’s War Requiem with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius with Malmö Symphony Orchestra.
Engagements so far in the season 2010/11 have included Albert in Werther at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the title role in Don Giovanni with Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly at the Royal Danish Opera, the title role in Eugene Onegin at the Norwegian National Opera, and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Upcoming engagements include Marcello in La bohème and Lescaut in Massenet’s Manon at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Count in Le nozze di Figaro at the Glyndebourne Festival, Hercule in Gluck’s Alceste at the Royal Danish Opera, the title role in Eugene Onegin at the English National Opera as well as in performances with the Bolshoi Theatre and the conductor Vasily Sinaisky at the Epidaurus Festival in Athens, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 as well as Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and the conductor Jukka Pekka Saraste.
