The Norwegian mezzo-soprano Ann-Beth Solvang studied at the Rogaland Conservatory of Music in Stavanger and at The State Academy of Operatic Art in Oslo.

She was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Staatsoper Hamburg from 2006-08. 2008-11 she was a member of the ensemble at the Staatsoper Hamburg. Her repertoire there included Hänsel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Cherubino in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Flosshilde in DAS RHEINGOLD as well as in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, Grimgerde in DIE WALKÜRE, Diana in LA CALISTO, Diane in IPHIGÉNIE EN TAURIDE, Suzuki in MADAMA BUTTERFLY, Mercédès in CARMEN, Annina in LA TRAVIATA, Bersi in ANDREA CHENIER, Silla in PALESTRINA and Miss Betty in the world premiere of Oscar Strasnoy’s opera LE BAL.

Since then she has appeared at opera houses and festivals such as Bayerische Staatsoper München, Oper Zürich, Opéra National de Paris, Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Teatr Wielki in Warszaw, Norwegian National Opera, Bergen National Opera, Theater Oldenburg, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik and most frequently; Theater an der Wien.

She has added roles such as Erda in DAS RHEINGOLD, Fricka in DIE WALKÜRE, Waltraute in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, Bianca in EINE FLORENTINISCHE TRAGÖDIE, Annio in LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, Orlovsky in DIE FLEDERMAUS, Maddalena in RIGOLETTO, Dido in DIDO AND AENEAS, Hippolyta A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, La Zelatrice in SUOR ANGELICA, Ursule in BEATRICE ET BENEDICT, Der Trommler in DER KAISER VON ATLANTIS, Minerva and Fortuna in IL RITORNO D´ULISSE IN PATRIA, Page in SALOME, Mary in DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER, Ernesto in IL MONDO DELLA LUNA and Flavia in Telemann’s FLAVIUS BERTARIDUS.

Ann-Beth Solvang is a much sought-after concert singer, regularly appearing in concert venues and at festivals throughout Europe. In addition to the standard repertoire, she has had much success as Waldtaube in Schönberg’s GURRELIEDER, Marguerite in Berlioz’ LA DAMNATION DE FAUST and in Schubert’s rarely performed incidental music to ROSAMUNDE, FÜRSTIN VON ZYPERN.

She has worked with conductors such as Hansjörg Albrecht, Vito Christofaro, James Duddle, John Helmer Fiore, Lawrence Foster, Riccardo Frizza, Rolf Gupta, Michael Güttler, Leo Hussain, Alexander Joel, Philippe Jordan, Alessandro De Marchi, Antonella Manacorda, Andew Manze, Gerhard Markson, Marc Minkowski, Jun Märkl, Kent Nagano, John Nelson, Erwin Ortner, Roberto Paternostro, Kirill Petrenko, Vasily Petrenko, Francois Xavier Roth, Peter Szilvay, Anu Tali, Konstantin Trinks, Peter Valentovic, Hendrik Vestmann, Philipp von Steinaecker and Simone Young.

In December 2017 she sang Flosshilde in DAS RHEINGOLD as well as in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG and Waltraute in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG in Theater an der Wien’s abriged version of the RING.

Enggagements in 2018 included Grimgerde in DIE WALKÜRE at Staatsoper Hamburg, Hippolyta A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM at Theater an der Wien, Waltraute in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG in an abriged version at the Norwegian National Opera, Orlovsky in DIE FLEDERMAUS with Opera Rogaland, Schönberg’s LIED DER WALDTAUBE (from Gurrelieder) with Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, Erda in Wagner’s SIEGFRIED, Marguerite in Berlioz’ LA DAMNATION DE FAUST, Mutter in Humperdinck’s HÄNSEL UND GRETEL and Mahler’s DAS LIED VON DER ERDE, all at Oldenburgisches Staatstheater.

2019 has so far included Die Königin in Mendelssohn’s ELIAS at Theater an der Wien, Mrs. De Rocher in Jake Heggie’s DEAD MAN WALKING and Sesto in Mozart’s LA CLEMENZA DI TITO at the Oldenburgisches Staatstheater.

Ann-Beth Solvang has recorded DAS RHEINGOLD, DIE WALKÜRE and GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG (all for OEHMS Classics), Pergolesi’s L`OLIMPIADE (Deutsche Harmonia Mundi), Songs by the Norwegian composer Eyvind Alnæs (1872-1932) (Toccata Classics), Telemann’s FLAVIUS BERTARIDUS (Deutsche Harmonia Mundi) and SIX SONGS FOR THE UNQUIET TRAVELLER (Ensemble 2e2m).

Den norske mezzo-sopranen Ann-Beth Solvang studerte ved Høgskolen i Stavanger og Operahøgskolen i Oslo.

Hun var solist ved Staatsoper Hamburg 2008-2011, og siden har hun sunget ved Bayerische Staatsoper München, Opéra de Bastille i Paris, Théâtre du Châtelet i Paris, Oper Zürich, Den Norske Opera, Teatr Wielki i Warszawa, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik og  Theater an der Wien.

Fra sesongen 2018/19 er hun del av ensemblet ved Oldenburgisches Staatstheater.

Hennes operararepertoar inkluderer Hänsel og Mutter i HÄNSEL UND GRETEL, Cherubino i LE NOZZE DI FIGARO, Sesto og Annio i LA CLEMENZA DI TITO, Suzuki i MADAMA BUTTERFLY, Erda og Flosshilde i DAS RHEINGOLD, Waltraute og Grimgerde i DIE WALKÜRE, Erda i SIEGFRIED og Waltraute, 2. Norn og Flosshilde i GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, Diane i IPHIGÉNIE EN TAURIDE, Dido i DIDO AND AENEAS og Hippolyta i Brittens A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM,. Hun har også sunget et stort antall roller av Händel, Monteverdi, Pergolesi, Telemann og Vivaldi.

Som konsertsanger synger Ann-Beth Solvang regelmessig i konsertsaler og festivaler over hele Europa.

Ann-Beth Solvangs CD og DVD innspillingene inkluderer Wagners DAS RHEINGOLD, DIE WALKÜRE  og GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG, Pergolesis L`OLIMPIADE og Telemanns FLAVIUS BERTARIDUS. I tillegg har hun spilt inn en CD med sanger av den norske komponisten Eyvind Alnæs.
