The young Norwegian mezzo-soprano Ingeborg Gillebo studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music and at the Opera Academy in Copenhagen where she studied with Professor Susanna Eken.

During her studies she sang roles such as Idamante in Idomeneo, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi, Der Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos, Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier, the title role in Carmen and Marie in The Bartered bride.

In the summer of 2010 she participated in Academie européenne de musique at Festival d’Aix-en-Provence. In 2010 she also made her debut at the Royal Danish Opera as Margret in Wozzeck and at the Norwegian National Opera as Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro.

In the summer of 2011 she was finalist in the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna and in August 2011 she was awarded the 2nd prize in the Queen Sonja International Singing Competition.

Since then she has sung Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Costanza in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata at the Norwegian National Opera, Zélis in Liszt’s Don Sanche in London as well as in Amsterdam in the connection with European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage Award Ceremony, 2:nd Lady in Die Zauberflöte in staged performances with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and performances of Solveig in Grieg’s Peer Gynt at the Peer Gynt Festival (one of Norway’s most established and prestigious festivals). She has also “covered” Annio in La clemenza di Tito at the Metropolitan Opera New York.

Ingeborg Gillebo regularly sings concerts with many of Scandinavia’s leading orchestras and her repertoire include works by Bach, Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Beethoven, Mendelssohn and Grieg.

She has worked with conductors such as Rinaldo Alessandrini, Christian Badea, Fabio Biondi, Michael Boder, Daniele Callegari, Attilio Cremonesi, Jonathan Darlington, Thomas Dausgaard, John Helmer Fiore, Georg Fritzsch, Hartmut Haenchen, Robert Horwath, Markus Lahtinen, James Levine, Marc Minkowski, Henrik Nánási, Andris Nelsons, Sir Robert Norrington, Stefan Parkman, Andrew Parrott, Vasily Petrenko, George Petrou, Laurent Pillot, Stefano Rabaglia, Patrik Ringborg, Tobias Ringborg, Alexander Shelley, Peter Szilvay and Emmanuel Villaume.

Engagements in 2013 included Nicklausse in Les contes d’Hoffmann, Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro, Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana and a revival of Costanza in Haydn’s L’isola disabitata at the Norwegian National Opera, performances of Solveig in Grieg’s Peer Gynt at the Peer Gynt Festival, concerts at the Kirsten Flagstad Festival, Volve in the world premiere of Ragnar Söderlind’s The voice from Mímisbrunnr and concerts with music by Edvard Grieg with Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.

2014 included Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at the Metropolitan Opera New York with the conductor James Levine, Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Norwegian National Opera, Mozart’s Mass in C minor in Paris with Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and the conductor Sir Robert Norrington, the Richard Tucker Gala in New York with the conductor Emmanuel Villaume, Haydn’s Stabat Mater in Oslo with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra and the conductor George Petrou and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 2 – Lobgesang with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra.

2015 included Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at Opernhaus Zurich as well as Theater an der Wien, Theater Kiel and the Drottningholm Festival Stockholm, Flower-maiden, Esquire and Voice from above in with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Mozart’s Requiem with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, arias by Mozart with Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven’s Missa solemnis with Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra, various opera arias with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a song-recital at the Flanders Festival Antwerp.

2016 included Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at Opéra Royal de Versailles as well as at Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and the Norwegian National Opera, Flower-maiden in Parsifal at the Bayreuth Festival, Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte at the Norwegian National Opera, Beethoven’s Symphony No 9 with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven’s Missa solemnis as well as Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and a Gala Concert in Bonn for the Deutsche AIDS-Stiftung.

2017 has so far included Mélisande in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande at the Norwegian National Opera, an Opera Gala at Kirsten Flagstad Festival and Grieg’s Peer Gynt at the Peer Gynt Festival.

Ingeborg Gillebo studerte ved Norges Musikkhøgskole og ved Operaakademiet i København.

Hun gjorde sin operadebut på Det Kongelige Teater i København i 2010 som Margret in Wozzeck. Kort tid etter gjorde hun sin debut på Den Norske Opera som Cherubino i Le nozze di Figaro og har siden opptrådt ved en rekke ledende operahus og festivaler, som Metropolitan Opera i New York, Oper Zürich, Theater an der Wien, Theater Kiel, Festival d’Aix en Provence, Flanders Festival Antwerp, Drottningholms-festivalen i Stockholm og Richard Wagners egen festival, Bayreuth Festivalen.

Hun er en meget etterspurt konsertsangerinne og blant høydepunkter kan nevnes en konsert til ære for Placido Domingo i Amsterdam, opptreden på den årlig Richard Tucker-gallaen i Carnegie Hall i New York, Mozarts c-moll messe med Orchestre de Chambre de Paris og en konsertant fremføring av Wagners opera Parsifal med City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

I august 2011 vant hun 2. plass i Dronning Sonja Internasjonale Musikkonkurranse og i juni 2015 representerte hun Norge i verdens største sangkonkurranse; BBC Cardiff Singer of the World.

Ingeborg Gillebo har samarbeidet med dirigenter som Christian Badea, Fabio Biondi, Michael Boder, Daniele Callegari, Jonathan Darlington, John Helmer Fiore, Hartmut Haenchen, James Levine, Marc Minkowski, Henrik Nánási, Andris Nelsons, Sir Robert Norrington, Vasily Petrenko, George Petrou, Karl-Heinz Steffens, Peter Szilvay og Emmanuel Villaume.

Fremtidige engasjementer inkluderer opptredener på Den Norske Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden og konserter med Berliner Philharmoniker.
