 The Norwegian tenor Magnus Staveland was born in Stavanger. He studied at the State Academy of Music in Oslo and at the Royal Opera Academy in Copenhagen with Susanna Eken.

Engagements have brought him to Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Florence, Teatro Regio di Torino, Settimana Musicale Senese Siena, Teatro Real Madrid, Staatsoper Berlin, Theater an der Wien, Innsbrucker Festwochen, Opéra Garnier Paris, Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, Opéra de Rouen, Opéra Garnier Monaco, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels, Vlaamse Opera Antwerp, Perm State Opera, Ho Chi Minh Opera, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Drottningholm Festival Stockholm, Royal Swedish Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Norwegian National Opera, Settimana Musicale Senese in Siena.

His roles include Don Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI, Tamino in DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Ferrando in COSÌ FAN TUTTE, Arbace in Mozart’s IDOMENEO, Medoro in Haydn’s ORLANDO PALADINO, Aret in Haydn’s PHILEMON UND BAUCIS, Evandre in Gluck’s ALCESTE, Ati in Gluck’s ARISTEO, Giove in Gluck’s BAUCI E FILEMONE, Giove in Martín y Soler’s LA DORA FESTEGGIANTE and several roles in operas by Monteverdi, Handel, Vivaldi, Cavalli and Scarlatti.

He is a much sought-after concert singer and regularly appears in concert venues and festivals throughout Europe and Asia. His repertoire includes a vast number of masses, oratorios, symphonies and song cycles.

2018 included Nerone in Monteverdi’s L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA at Nationaltheater Mannheim, semi-staged performances of Clotarco in Haydn’s ARMIDA in Warsaw, Basel and Theater an der Wien with Basel Chamber Orchestra, staged performances of Bach’s ST JOHN PASSION at Opéra de Rouen, excerpts from Fliflet Bræin’s opera ANNE PEDERSDOTTER with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Haydn’s NELSON MASS in Ljubljana, Haydn’s DIE SCHÖPFUNG in Trondheim, Handel’s MESSIAH in Bergen, Mozart’s REQUIEM in Kristiansund, Bergen and Oslo, and Bach’s CHRISTMAS ORATORIO in Oslo as well as in Hønefoss and in Elverum,

2019 has started with Monteverdi’s IL COMBATTIMENTO DI TANCREDI E CLORINDA in Wigmore Hall, London, with Les Talens Lyriques conducted by Christophe Rousset, Haydn’s DIE SCHÖPFUNG in Odense, Bruckner’s TE DEUM and Haydn’s HARMONIEMESSE in Oslo with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Mozart’s REQUIEM in Hønefoss, Bach’s MASS IN B MINOR in Bodø, Bach’s ST JOHN PASSION in Bergen, Telemann’s BROCKES-PASSION in Hamburg and Tempo in Handel’s IL TRIONFO DEL TEMPO E DEL DISINGANNO in Oslo.

Den norske tenoren Magnus Staveland er født i Stavanger Han studerte ved Musikkhøgskolen i Oslo og ved Opera Akademiet i København.

Han hadde sitt internasjonale gjennombrudd da han sang Enea i Cavallis LA DIDONE ved Teatro alla Scala i Milano og ved Teatro la Fenice i Venezia.

Han har siden gjestet Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino i Firenze, Teatro Carignano i Torino, Teatro Real Madrid, Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Theater an der Wien, Opéra Garnier Paris, Opéra du Rhin Strasbourg, Théâtre de La Monnaie i Brussel, Opera Vlaanderen i Antwerpen, Perm State Opera, Ho Chi Minh Opera House, Kungliga Operan i Stockholm, Det Kongelige Teater i København, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Händel Festivalen i Halle, Drottningholms Festivalen i Stockholm, og han har sunget en rekke roller ved Den Norske Opera.

Han er en meget etterspurt konsertsanger og han opptrer regelmessige på konserthus og festivaler i Europa og Asia. Hans repertoar inkluderer oratorier, messer og sanger av Bach, Beethoven, Britten, Dvorak, Grieg, Haydn, Händel, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Schubert, Stravinsky og Vivaldi.
