The Swedish tenor Martin Vanberg studied the Opera Academy in Copenhagen.

He has appeared in opera houses and festivals such as the Royal Danish Opera, Gothenburg Opera, Malmö Opera, Drottningholms Opera Festival, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Musikfestspiele Potsdam, Festival d’Opéra Baroque de Beaune, Festival d’Ambronay, Misteria Paschalia Festival in Krakow, Actus Humanus Festival in Gdansk, Nordic Opera, Mariehamn Festival, Ripasso Baroque Festival in Stockholm and the Vadstena Festival.

His roles include Count Almaviva in IL BARBIERE DI SIVIGLIA, Tamino in Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE, Arbace in IDOMENEO, Don Ottavio in DON GIOVANNI, Male Chorus in Britten’s THE RAPE OF LUCRETIA, Lysander in Britten’s A MIDSUMMERNIGHTS DREAM, Peter Quint in Britten’s THE TURN OF THE SCREW, Le Chevalier in LES DIALOGUES DES CARMÉLITES, Nutrice, Lucano, Soldier 1 & Fam.di Seneca 1 in L’INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA, L’Humana fragilità and Pisandro  in IL RITORNO D’ULISSE IN PATRIA, the title role in Handel’s JEPHTHA, Oronte in Handel’s ALCINA, Jonathan in Handel’s SAUL, Cephalus in Cavalli’s GLI AMORI D’APOLLO E DI DAFNE, Gomatz in Mozart’s ZAIDE, Cecco and Ecclittico in Haydn’s IL MONDO DELLA LUNA.

He has participated in a number of contemporary operas and concert pieces such as Christer in TONIGHT, TONIGHT, The Theatre Painter in David Sandström’s THE ROCOCO MACHINE, The therapist in Hugi Gudmundsson’s HAMLET IN ABSENTIA, Mr. Wickham in Daniel Nelson’s PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Elis, Christoffer Nobin’s HION OM NATTEN, David in Nikolo Kotzav’s JOEL, Moore of Moorehall in THE DRAGON OF WANTLEY, Daniel Hjort’s DET DYBESTE STED, G.A. Homilius’ ST MARK PASSION and he has recorded Thomas Jennefelt’s DIXIT DOMINUS.

As a concert singer he frequently appears in many of Europe’s leading concert halls, including the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Wien, Kölner Philharmonie and Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen. Hs repertoire includes works by Bach, Britten, Dowland, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Monteverdi, Mozart, Porpora, Purcell, and Vivaldi

He regularly works with conductors such as Christian Badea, Stefano Barneschi, Benjamin Bayl, Steuart Bedford, Alfredo Bernardini, David Björkman, Olof Boman, Laurence Cummings, Ottavio Dantone, Thomas Dausgaard, Bjarte Eike, Michael Francis, Kjell Ingebretsen, Ruben Jais, Stephen Layton, Fredrik Malmberg, Andrew Manze, Ville Matvejeff, Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Riccardo Minasi, Thibault Noally, Ian Page, Simon Phipps, Helmut Rilling, Morten Schuldt Jensen, Claudio Scimone, Marc Soustrot, David Stern, Emil Tabakov, Alessandro Tampieri, Massimiliano Toni and Maciej Wieloch.

2017 included Handel’s LA RESURREZIONE in Ambronay with Accademia Bizantina, Handel’s as well as Vivaldi’s DIXIT DOMINUS in Milan and Turin with Fondazione Orchestra di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Tamino in Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE at Musikfestspiele Potsdam, Handel’s MESSIAH in Nyköping and Bach’s CHRISTMAS ORATORIO in Stavanger as well as in Varberg.

Engagements in 2018 included Tempo in Handel’s IL TRIONFO DEL TEMPO E DEL DISINGANNO in Gdansk with Accademia Bizantina, Handel’s ODE FOR ST. CECILIA’S DAY in Milan with Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, Handel’s ISRAEL IN EGYPT with Accademia Bizantina, Mozart’s REQUIEM with the Macedonian Philharmonics as well as in Malmö, Purcell’s KING ARTHUR with The New Opera, Bembo/Petersson’s INGJUTET I MITT HJÄRTA in Stockholm, SOLEN OCH NORDSTJÄRNAN – a pasticcio with music by Lully, Desfontaines and Düben at the Vadstena Festival, Bach’s ST JOHN PASSION in Linköping, Monteverdi’s VESPRO DELLA BEATA VERGINE in Växjö, Handel’s MESSIAH in Linköping and Copenhagen and Staern’s THE SNOW QUEEN at the Malmö Opera.

2019 has so far included Eumete in Monteverdi’s IL RITORNO D’ULISSE IN PATRIA in Hamburg conducted by Fabio Biondi, Lurcanio in Handel’s ARIODANTE at the Drottningholm Festival, a concert with ARIAS by Handel in Gothenburg and Handel’s MESSIAH in Witten and Dortmund.

Den svenske tenoren Martin Vanberg studerte ved Opera Akademiet i København. Han debuterte som Oronte i Händels Alcina ved Göteborgsoperan i 2011.

Martin Vanberg er meget aktiv utøver av samtidsmusikk og han har medvirket på en rekke uroppførelser av operaer og konsertstykker.

Som konsertsanger har han opptrådt i flere av Europas ledende konserthus som Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Konzerthaus Wien, Philharmonie Berlin, Kölner Philharmonie, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg og Tivolis Koncertsal i København.
